AccessMend ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our WCAG accessibility scanning service, including our web platform, API, and Chrome browser extension.

2. Information We Collect

Personal Information

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as:

  • Account information (name, email address, password)
  • Payment information (processed securely through Stripe)
  • Profile information and preferences
  • Communication with our support team

Usage Information

We automatically collect certain information about your use of our service:

  • URLs and web content you submit for scanning
  • Scan results and accessibility issues found
  • API usage and integration patterns
  • Device information and browser type
  • IP address and geographic location

Chrome Extension Information

When you use our Chrome browser extension, we collect:

  • URLs of pages you scan using the extension
  • Accessibility scan results from scanned pages
  • Extension settings and preferences
  • API key for authentication with your AccessMend account
  • Usage statistics (number of scans, scan frequency)

Important: The extension only analyzes pages when you explicitly click the extension icon or trigger a scan. We do not track your browsing history or collect data from pages you visit without initiating a scan. The extension operates locally in your browser, and only scan results are transmitted to our servers for analysis and storage.

11. Chrome Extension Permissions

Our Chrome extension requires certain permissions to function properly. Here's why we need each permission:

  • activeTab: Allows the extension to access the current page content when you click the extension icon to perform an accessibility scan.
  • storage: Stores your preferences, API key, and scan history locally in your browser for a better user experience.
  • scripting: Enables the extension to inject scripts into web pages to analyze accessibility issues in real-time.
  • Host permissions (accessmend.com): Allows communication with our API servers to authenticate your account, submit scan results, and retrieve AI-powered recommendations.

The extension does not access your browsing history, does not track websites you visit, and only processes data when you explicitly initiate a scan.
